Piers Morgan interviews Donald Trump at Davos Summit

Trump apologist Piers Morgan demands Britain welcome Trump visit

Piers Morgan managed to bag an exclusive interview with Donald Trump which was partly shown on Good Morning Britain. Speaking to him in Davos from the World Economic Forum, the outspoken presenter, 52, begged the United Kingdom to let the president into the country – despite any planned protests.

Morgan told Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard: “Donald Trump is half-British – his mother is British – and he talks very movingly of his mother later in the interview. His affinity to Britain is very strong.

“My argument has always been that we are going to need America like we’ve never needed them before after Brexit.

Trump tells Piers Morgan he doesn’t know anything about far-right group Britain First

The US President made the apology during a TV interview with Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan.

Trump’s retweets of Britain First led to a huge diplomatic incident between the US and Britain and led to Theresa May publicly condemning the President.

During the one-to-one interview in Davos, Switzerland, Morgan asked for an apology, saying he believed it would go a long way in Britain.

The President replied: “If you’re telling me they’re horrible racist people, I would certainly apologise if you would like me to do that.”

“I know nothing about them.”

Piers: “Can I get an apology out of you just for the retweets of Britain First? It would go a long way.”

Trump: “Here’s what’s fair. If you’re telling me that they’re horrible, racist people I would certainly apologise if you’d like me to do that. I know nothing about them.”

Piers: ”And you would disavow yourself of people like that?”

Trump: “I don’t want to be involved with people like that. But you’re telling me about these people. Because I know nothing about these people.”

Piers: “Irritation with my country, we’ve given State visits to Bashar al-Assad, to Robert Mugabe, to Vladimir Putin and to President Xi, so the implication from them trying to ban you is that you’re worse than they are.”

Trump: “Well, I hadn’t heard about banning but I think a lot of the people in your country like what I stand for, they respect what I stand for.

Piers: “Those who don’t.”

Trump: “And I do stand for tough borders.”

Piers: “I’m going to come to that now, but to those who don’t, what do you say to them?”

Trump: “I don’t care. I don’t care, it’s just one of those things. I don’t say anything, you know why? Because I don’t care. “
