Syriza must be alongside society

Parliament has until tonight midnight tonight to approve the Government’s measure if Greece is to meet the creditors deadline. Government’s spokeswoman Olga Gerovasili was asked in an ERT1 interview to comment on the Prime Minister’s session with SYRIZA MPs this morning.

ATHENS, July 22 – The SYRIZA party caucus was held before four parliamentary committees convened for a joint hearing. The committees are to report on the Prime Minister’s bill in Parliament today. The bill as crafted by Maximos Mansion – sets forward the framework the Prime Minister and his negotiating team’s will undertake the Government’s response to Stage 2 of the Agreement.

“The Prime Minister put forward in his remarks that each SYRIZA MP and  party members  on each Member opinion should be considered. The Prime Minister’s statement is that we should democratically come together and reach together a shared understanding of our views so that they will be understood and take effect. SYRIZA cannot function in in other way but as a having a common undertaking,” said the government spokeswoman.”

“And therefore that which comes from the Prime Minister’s statement is that we should democratically and drawn to move to collective proceedings which would formulate the views and apparently will come and effect. However, SYRIZA could not act otherwise, “said the government spokeswoman.

“There is dissident faction in SYRIZA,” said Mrs. Gerovasili, noting that SYRIZA is the synthesis of different concepts, objectives and policy proposals they make a component.

But she added:  “Here we must each take responsibility and stand respectively”, because “today there are two policy recommendations:

One recommendation is followed by the government, which says to follow the existing negotiation framework that arose out of the Dilemma: Agreement – Grexit – or Bankruptcy.

The other recommendation is to answer No to the existing negotiation framework and not to provide a feasible alternative.”

Ms. Gerovasili noted that the prime minister called for “any alternative is to be discussed.” Emphasizing that the “alternative made is an improvisations, without having a means for implementation to lead to a result.”

At this point the government spokesman said:  “The fact that the Syriza party must be aligned with the society is an understanding that   exists in SYRIZA since SYRIZA surpassed being a minority party by 4-5%.”

“Today a very large part of Greek citizens support the effort, and that is exactly what should happen. This is necessary but not only now, it has always been necessary. Today is a time when even more important, because today we have wide support on the part of Greek society, Greek citizens to support the government. Our citizens have a confidence in the undertakings  of the Prime Minister. But also as well with the  the efforts of the negotiating team. They feel that the government of SYRIZA is the only solution today and certainly bolster the government with their confidence.
