New Democracy PASOK River joins SYRIZA ANAL coalition passing Agreement

The government submitted the bill to Parliament as an emergency measure. Consideration was limited to one day of debate to meet a midnight deadline imposed by the Institutions. 

The bill was approved by a majority of deputies after debate. The bill is the second set of measures called Summit Agreement “prerequisites.” 

VOTING IN FAVOR: The government SYRIZA-ANEL coalition. Joined by the opposition parties: New Democracy and PASOK River.

New Democracy and PASOK River recognized the extremely urgent need for the bill’s enactment of the bill. However, the two opposition parties accused the government of sloppiness by forcing Parliament to legislate under pressure.

VOTING OPPOSED: Golden Dawn and KKE. The two opposition parties spoke of unacceptable procedures.

Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos defended the Government’s request to consider the bill under emergency procedure. He stressed the need to complete the deal as soon as possible.

He also stated there are no controversial issues in the bill. In particular, issues relating to early retirement and farmer taxation. He said they would be included int he new agreementMr. Tsakalotos..

Finance Minister Mr. Tsakalotos:  It  is extremely important to pass the bill with the prerequisites steps to begin on Friday during negotiations with the instititutions.  The Institutions have said that are not yet ready.  “These prerequisites  will be six months.”

New Dawn deputy Nikos Dendias: “We will present the reasons for the necessity to legislate in the state of emergency. We are here to support the country at a  time of national emergency. But the government cannot legislate on bended knee,.”

New Dawn deputy Despina Sveroni: “We must ratify and not legislate. It is a shame and and a disgrace that the Greek Government does not agree with the process.”

Alexander River deputy Chatzidimitriou: “We will put unity over country. But they could have had a comprehensive discussion on so many important issues relating to criminal procedure.”

KKE deputy Nikos: “To rant on the country’s salvation and the people. Those Celta save is their business groups. They ordered the people to bankruptcy. It is an unacceptable  process with which we disagree.”

ANEL deputy Nick Mavraganis: “It is obvious that no one feels proud. We would  all we would like to resist but today Greece is under pressure.”

PASOK deputy Andreas Loverdos: “We can not do otherwise and say no, but I am ashamed. Mercy, the government could brought the bill earlier. But did not show the required, sensitivity on such an important issue.”
