Belfast, February 29 – Adele chose Belfast Northern Ireland Monday night to begin her European Tour to promote her record breaking album 27. Tickets added to the performance in the morning sold out shortly after the box office opened – fetching £600 on unofficial sites.
It is the mega star’s first tour in five years. Adele’s song list included Skyfall, Someone Like You, and Rumour Has It. One of her most famous hits Rolling In The Deep closed the evening. Adele has a second Belfast show Tuesday and then it is on to Dublin on Thursday and Friday.
To open the show, a huge stage screen showed Adele’s closed eyes which opened as she appeared on a smaller stage. A roaring crowd greeted her as she began her set with her hit single Hello. Adele made her way though the crowd to the main stage.
Heading straight into her second song of Hometown, Aerial images of Belfast appeared on the huge screen as Adele headed straight into her second song Hometown.
After performing One and Only Adele chatted with the arena crowd as she sipped from her trademark white mug: “Hello Belfast, I am so happy to be here. This is the first time I have ever played in an arena – when I came up through that stage in the dark I thought I was going to die!”
Adele did some touring of Belfast’s sites – stopping at the Titanic Visitor Center where she wished good luck to Leonardo DiCaprio on Oscar night Tweeting: “Good Luck Leo. Meet me at the clock anytime.”
Adele’s 27 album has spent nine non-consecutive weeks at number one.
