Medical team visits Hope Savchenko after delayed attempt to enter prison.
Moscow. March 14th – The detained pilot Hope Savchenko was visited by Ukraine doctors on Saturday. The visit lasted three and a half hours reports Interfax. The news service provided no details of her health.
The medical team from Ukraine was accompanied by Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Ella Pamfilova.
The previous night – Friday – the visting Ukraine doctors were prevented from entering the prison. Prison officials said the the Foreign Ministry – that would be Sergey Lavrov – needed to provide approval documents.
“I take responsibility for this. Unfortunately, the procedure of visiting foreign doctors in the jail was more difficult than I could have imagined. And requires significant additional approvals,” said the Commissioner.
Russian media has reported Savchenko is eating soup.
The Ukraine medical team says they were with Savchenko five hours. Gastroenterologist Natalia Kharchenko. She told lb.ua news service that the jailed pilot is okay.
