Merkel and finance minister Schäuble foresee Grexit

BY KYLE ANDREW BROWN

Berlin, June 4 – The German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble said he foresees a possible Greek exit from the European monetary union. In a sit down interview in the editorial offices of the German weekly Wolfgang Schäuble, the minister said:

“In the question of what is the right solution for Greece, the Chancellor and I totally agree.”.

Schäuble was clearly in a bitterly complaining mood as he pronounced that:

“Europe is built on mutual trust. So we need sensible deal, which makes the current negotiations with Greece so  exhausting.”

Angela Merkel’s minister ridiculed Greek voters and the Syriza party they elected to office:

“Syriza succeed in the last election campaign to convince the Greek people that there is an easier way to stay in the Euro – without major reform efforts that would actually be in the interests of the Greek nation.  Perhaps this should not have been promised.”

Schäuble says he’s advised Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras now and before the election that he could not deliver on such a promise.”

“I have a lot of strength and commitment used to finding Greece a way to get back Greece back on it’s their feet.”

“After all,” the Chancellor’s minster said: “In 2012 I enforced a haircut of 53 percent.”

“So much for my role as a ‘tough guy’ compared to Athens.”
