Schapiro said he understood the President wishes to pay tribute to victims of the Second World War. However, according to him, it would be unfortunate if the president Zeman probably the only head of state of the EU took part in a military parade at a time when Russian troops in violation of international law destabilize neighboring country.

“I appreciate  good working relations with anyone . And I want him to know that my door is left open to him. A Czech nation, I would like to say that the US government and Americans value our partnerships and alliances, more than ever,” Schapiro wrote in the Sunday Statement holiday in USA.
