Megyn Journalist? Trump Entertainer?
BY KYLE ANDREW BROWN
Washington, January 25 – Yes, Megyn Kelly practices her trade in Rupert Murdoch’s FOX News altered reality stable of on air talent. A stable of stars very good at what they do: pumping out content designed to retain audiences to gin up advertising dollars.
Personality, pretty legs and staying on message sells soap.
FOX News is not what typified the 20th century news organization: Content driven by reporters.
Rather Rupert Murdoch joins Big Media’s redefinition of news as content to place hundreds of cookies on web browsers.
FOX News like MSNBC are personality spin machines: Cycling through the short list of politicians and pundits in the detergent of the day’s best selling Talking Points.
Megyn’s got the requisite personality – and pretty legs – to sell lotsa soap.
Then how to justify Megyn Kelly the journalist?
Is Megyn Kelly more talent than Megyn Kelly is journalist?
I’d say Megyn Kelley is a remarkable hybrid of whatever we want to call FOX News.
For inside Megyn’s tool box is: The Pointed Question.
The conventional story arc surrounding the Trump and Kelly October run in: Whether Candidate was sexist and Moderator was a gotcha.
But actually, Donald Trump came to the studio set as Entertainer. And Megyn Kelly did indeed come as Journalist.
That Mr. Trump was clueless that Megyn Kelly’s stock in trade is to set Guest up within the safety net of the FOX News Club House.
And then pounce on Guest with The Pointed Question: Drilling into the contradiction of Guest’s scripted Talking Points.
If that isn’t journalism at its best then Megyn Kelly might as well just call out Donald Trump for what he is:
The final nail in the coffin of the current national GOP.
Thank you Donald Trump.
And thank you Megyn Kelly.
We thank you for your service to our country.
Good Neighbor Martin O’Malley
BY KYLE ANDREW BROWN
Washington, January 28 – When Martin O’Malley tossed his hat into the primary ring I sorta figured it was Hillary and the DNC just introducing their squeaky clean VP pick.
Martin is that good neighbor kinda guy. As governor Martin was kinda like your popular Senior Class President.
No waves. No big ideas. No scandals. Until the end when his wife made off with the Mansion Furniture.
Martin shares Hillary’s slipperiness when it comes to Big Banking : Business : Media. Listen carefully when both say to Chris Cuomo they believe in “fair market American capitalism.”
Listen carefully as well when Hillary says a President’s time is 50 percent Foreign Policy.
That’s convenient cover for a Hillary Clinton Administration with little interest of undoing all the damage done to the American consumer by the Big Banks, Telcoms and Walmart economics.
Governor O’Malley rightly speaks to the plight of once great industrial centers: Displaced by Free Trade policies making China the power house behind the Wal Mart consumer goods cycle.
Leaving behind crumbling infrastructure and some dead end jobs.
House Speaker Paul Ryan is right: It’s not gonna be – as Hillary and Martin O’Malley would have us believe – just more Washington cash thrown at “job training programs” that’ll rebuild American industry.
But even Paul Ryan surely understands in his Catholic social justice upbringing what regular Americans already agree as one:
That the creaky old GOP-DEM Congress has been the enabler of America’s lost sense of prosperity. And rise of the Surveillance State.
For after Iowa empties of all the political rhetoric, the Political Establishment will still be clinging to its crippling guiding axiom:
Corporations are more people than The People.
