Now Europe’s 9 Lives!

BY  CHRISTOPHE BARBIER

PARIS, July 7- By answering “no” to the reforms demanded by Europe, Greeks have chosen the path of uncertainty. If Greece leaves the Eurozone, it will react. The birth of a new Europe of concerted policy would make this “no” kick unprecedented adventure.

“Since you want to conquer your homeland and your friends […], triumph now. The time I have no doubt, will teach you that at the moment you serve your interests evil, and also once you nuisais you to yourself resisting your friends and abandoning yourself to anger that always you have been fatal. “

So Creon warns Oedipus at Colonus refugee and Francois Hollande or Jean-Claude Juncker, and Angela Merkel could have asked Sunday night at Alexis Tsipras , to make him understand how he was wrong to challenge its European partners with its referendum , and how his victory is big future disappointments.

By answering “no” to the reforms demanded by Europe, Greeks have chosen the path of uncertainty. It is likely that neither Berlin nor Brussels are not going to waste time and credit to concoct potions less bitter than those provided last week. Athens, unable to modernize with the assistance of Europe, must do it alone, and for that, out of the eurozone in order to regain economic flexibilities conferred an autonomous currency, capable of competitive devaluation. The recovery by the discipline, the Greeks preferred the revival of poverty.

Only one answer: more Europe!

Fatal for Greece, Sunday’s election is bitter for Europe. The Union, in its short history, has experienced many obstacles and few shots stop, as the abandonment of the European Defence Community or rejection of the Constitutional Treaty – both at the instigation of France. Never, however, it has experienced decline: if Greece returns to the drachma, it will be the first. At such crisis in Europe, only one answer: more Europe! For thirteen years, the same parts tintinnabulent in the pockets of their citizens, the euro countries have no fundamental political merged. Each adopts its budget in his corner, each sharpens its tax to bleed jobs neighbor shots competitive advantages, everyone stops its economic priorities and social sacrifices in the most perfect selfishness. When you have multiple policies with a single currency, the first and second neutralize weakens.

The political history made the EU a set of 28 countries, too vast to be really effective, but must be preserved because it guarantees peace. Economic history has made the euro zone a set of 19 countries, too vast to be really effective, but must be retained because it energizes the market. Today, it is time to draw a third disc, the limited area but dense and homogeneous content. This new union, a true merger, to be built by only a few countries where the European sentiment is strong enough to pull the nationalist brakes. The six states of 1957 are; undoubtedly, Spain and Portugal too, and it would be good to add Poland to the list of founders.

This Europe of the Nine is the new Europe if it finally adopts integrated policies on defense, diplomacy, research, taxation, economic policy, social protection … It is no more “transfers sovereignty “, but the creation of a new nation, the sovereign decisions will be unique and will have sole governance subsidiarity. For there is no denying the differences, dissolve the people nor to standardize practices. Only the key is attached to the top; for the rest, everyone chooses the color of his daily life. In this successful decentralization in absolute union, the nations of today are the regions of the nation of tomorrow.

If we want it, the “no” expressed by Greece, who once invented democracy, does not sound like the end of a movement, but as the start of a new adventure as a starting signal for the real Europe. That proves that face our mistakes, we open big eyes on the future, rather than us die like Oedipus did.
