Brussels, June 23 – Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is scheduled to meet with European Commission President Jean-Claude Junker today before the Eurogroup Triad of creditors meets at 20:00 GMT.  Alexis Trsipas is invited.

IMF’s Christine Lagarde is said to threaten the negotiations, insists on tougher measures and could torpedo any deal. Should Wednesday’s Eurogroup reach a negotiation agreement with the Greek prime minister then it would be presented to Thursday’s summit.  Read more

The German Chancellor faces a crucial decision

Brussels, June 22 – It was just last week that that the political leaders of the European Union we demonizing Greece Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and characterizing his nation as full of the filthy rich.

Today’s Grexit Summit in Brussels was set to expel Greece from Currency Union – effectively de-ascensioning the Greek nation from the European Union and leaving the hapless common people to join the flood of Mediterranean asylum seekers.

But what a difference a weekend makes. The news splashed cross the European capitals this Monday has a remarkable shift in tone. The President of the European Commission warmly escorted the Prime Minister into his office and gave him a playful wave across his cheek.  Read more

Europe’s driftless pursuit of debt collection

Moscow, June 19 – As the European Commission big shots in Brussells verbally tongue lashed what little remains of the dignity of the Greek nation, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was on yet another of those tours of the Soviet fortress in pursuit of alms.

There was an economic forum of sorts in Saint Petersburg which eased Alexis into his trademark photo bombs with this and that head of state.

And there he was, Vladimir Putin himself – right on cue with the plastered smirk  that says “I don’t really see you.” Followed by his usual  grim faced flunkys in what must have been for him yet another tedious standup before  State Television.  Read more

The German Chancellor faces a crucial decision

Washington, June 21 – Just as the European Union is set to meet on Monday afternoon on the Grexit bankruptcy, the Greek finance minister  Yannis Varoufakis  directly addresses the  German Chancellor Angela Merkel in an article published in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung:

“You have a crucial decision to make – achieve an honorable agreement with the Greek government that achieves a negotiated solution. Or just throw the only Greek government overboard. Ours is a principled government that can bring the Greek people to the path of reform.”  Read more

Tsipras offers small reforms before Grexit summit

Frankfurt, June 21 – Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has presented his proposals for a “final solution” to the debt crisis. He had explained his position on Sunday in phone calls with Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker, said in a statement the government in Athens.

Whether Tsipras agreed to creditors demands for further austerity and reform measures is still open.  Read More 

Let’s not expect rapid changes at the IMF says director

Saint Petersburg, June 20 – The IMF’s Managing Director Christine Lagarde is chasing down billions and billions of euros that her financial institution gifted to Greece over the decades.

Russia’s international media broadcaster RT caught up with one of the IMF’s 24 executive directors that look over daily operations. The one where CBS Morning Show anchor Charlie Rose asked Soviet leader Vladimir Putin if his country wanted to be a great power again.  Read more  

Time running out on Greece bankruptcy

Brussels, June 19 – President of the European Parliament Donald Tusk warned the Greek government: “Accept our offer which we consider is good. Or walk through ολόισια into bankruptcy. The situation for Greece is critical.” Mr. Tusk described the critical situation in Greece, as the program ends in 11 days. He urged Athens to stop the games of fear and blaming others.  Read more
