Creditors Three Extortion Options

The government has the support of the nation .  It will not lose this support in this Parliament: “There are no suicides among MPs who would throw out the government of the left.” said Alexis Tsipras in his speech to Parliament, just before the vote on approving the Agreement with the creditors.

The Prime Minister directly addressed New Democrats president Vangelis Meimarakis to censure or to ask if elections anxious to vote of SYRIZA members and government cohesion, adding:

“Governments fall when they lose their support in society. Our government has lost none of its support in society.  And will not lose that support in Parliament because there are no suicides Members who will throw the government of the left.”

“I am the last to escape from responsibility. However, I will be the last one who will voluntarily go alongside the government’s opponents and join them in removing the government from these benches,” the Prime Minister had earlier said in remarks to the SYRIZA MPs in caucus.

Alexis Tsipras spoke of “time of crisis and responsibility,” and called on MPs consider the creditors’ extortion on Greece. And what the options were during his 17 hours of negotiation at the Brussels Summit. He said MPs should recognize the three extortion options presented by the creditors to him at the weekend Summit. Would the MPs consider them to be real or to be fake.

This was the foundation of the delimma that Alexis Tsipras was presented by Angela Merkel and the creditors.

“If you come to believe that the extortion demands of the creditors were phoney, then I am open to listen to alternatives and move forward together.  If you believe the extortion threats were true, then there is no choice but to share all the weight of this responsibility.”

Mr. Tsipras repeated that the choices in front of him during the Summit were certain and clear: To accept an agreement on which there were many points with profound disagreements. To accept a disorderly default. Or to accept the accept the Schäuble Plan.

[Of the three choices given only the first with its disagreements gave us the option to return to Athens and ask for the Parliaments consent. Had we not accepted this option then the creditors gave two options: accept a disorderly default of accept the Schauble Plan.

As he said in Brussels charged for the same option of responsibility towards the lower classes and not drive the society worse off, and stressed that the government is committed to doing everything possible, “with the same passion that he fought 6 months now, “to get a class in this country, to promote reforms to fight tax evasion and corruption, but also to mitigate the effects of the harsh measures.

More and more Tsipras MPs are quitting their leader allegiance. They do not want to agree to austerity measures, the demand of the creditors which is put to a vote in Parliament tonight. The Minister of Finance has already quit. Now the prime minister threatens to resign.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has threatened the deputies of his party to resign, should they vote late in the evening against the Greek austerity program. “If I do not have your support, then it will be difficult for me to remain prime minister tomorrow,”  repeated often in Greece media.

The approval of the Greement plans is condition to begin to negotiate with the creditors on  a third Greece bailout package. The parliamentary vote is scheduled for late in the evening. The result of the roll call vote is expected around  midnight.

The pariliament’s endorsement of the austerity program is considered likely  because the main opposition parties are to vote for the austerity program.

However, it is expected that there will be many dissenters among the deputies of the governing SYRIZA party.

Some Tsipras- recurring have their leader have already quit loyalty to their party leader. The Finance Minister Nadja Valavani submitted her  resignation. She could not support the demand by international creditors austerity program and the associated drastic cuts. The politician left the governing party.

Energy Minister Panagiotis Lafazanis vote for Trispras is critical. He said Greek voters did not  elect SYRIZA so that would go through a new austerity program, says the leader of the left platform of the governing party. He announced to will to vote against the program.

A majority is expected to approve

When convened for the late night vote the coalition expects there are  around 30 dissidents among the Tsipras MPs. Since the opposition agrees with the Agreement conditions will agree, a majority of the Parliament’s MPs are expected to vote Yes.

The roll call vote takes about 45 minutes. The names of the representatives will be called. Everyone must stand up and vote “yes”, “no” or “Present” (abstention).

Tsipras’ Syriza Party of the Greece Government Tsipras is expected to breakup says ARD correspondent Niebrügge. To prevent the “will probably be very difficult”. Tsipras threatened today 40 abstentions in parliament from their own ranks.

He did not think of the rescue plan, but put it to – which has Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras stressed in an interview with eek state television ERT.

How does it work? According to the ARD correspondent Bernd Niebrügge this statement has primarily tactical reasons. “He tried with strong words as possible, large parts of his party to retain them,” said Niebrügge. In this way Tsipras wanted but may still win the vote with the votes of his own coalition. This will, however, probably will not work, said the ARD correspondent.

Tsipras threatened 40 abstentions

“According to our information 40 t Syriza members want to abstain, then Tsipras would have to rely on the votes of the opposition,” said Niebrügge. After the vote, it would also be expected to take have a reshuffle. “Apparently two ministers would be replaced by the radical wing against liberal forces.

If Tsipras wins the vote in Parliament only with the votes of the opposition, then he would at least ensure that his own party did not break apart, says Niebrügge, “but that is probably very difficult.” The Central Committee of the Syriza party published statement in which the majority said the reform compromises should not be accepted. “This is for Tsipras in the coming days a big problem.”

Holding the Alliance Strong

BY KYLE ANDREW BROWN

WASHINGTON, July 14 – The Washington Post puts the speculation this way: “It remains unclear whether he could push through the bills without forming a new unity government, calling for new elections or resigning.”

New elections are not likely – at least during the summer months. Greece pretty much remains electorally aligned as it has been since the February election. An election at this point would be to put the Agreement to a referendum.  Read more

Aid To Europe German Reform Package

German Reform Package

Raise VAT – Reduce services – Cut jobs

BY KYLE ANDREW BROWN

WASHINGTON, July 12 – The financial stakes for Germany and France are high. It is understood that they hold massive Greece debt on their own banks portfolios. We’re talking billions and billions of euros.

How they got there – well everybody knows. The cozy German financial pyramid scheme had the diplomats at the European Union and the IMF sorta co-sign off on loans, er bailout, er aid packages to Greece.

The bankers who booked these billions in loans – those guys in suits – they made out well. So did apparently those well placed Greeks in the oligarch class and the YES neighborhoods.  Read more

Greece does not capitulate

BY PATRICK BERNAU /Managing Economics Editor

BERLIN. July 14 – A 25-day showdown. Seven finance ministers meeting. Three summits. A 16-hour night session. And now?Europe remains every bit as much as before. Whoever was satisfied with the existing state of affairs should just sit back. The fuss is all over now.

To be blunt: Europe offers the notion that the agreement is one requiring reforms.  And Greece accommodates this  notion, as if the wording of the agreement actually makes a difference. Read more
