Pick a Departure Time

The atmosphere is still poisoned. “I want to trade SMS with the Greek Prime Minister” growled EU Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker on Tuesday morning in the Strasbourg European Parliament.

He had just spoken very emotionally in plenary and called for Greece remaining in the euro zone. “I am against a Grexit”,  Juncker declared.  Read more

Tsipras Trumps Troika

BY TAGASSCHAU.DE

BERLIN, JULY 6 – The ECB tightened the credit conditions for Greece’s banks. But the step is much too late. The European Central Bank has its credibility long ago damaged

Instead of a previously anticipated close race it was at the end of a no-brainer: With 61.31 percent of the Greeks have said ‘no’ to the reform requirements of the funders – and strengthened Prime Minister Tsipras. The now wants to negotiate again, but the euro countries first meet for a special summit.

With a surprisingly clear majority, the Greeks have quashed the savings targets of international creditors by referendum. Yanis tossed from government

BY KYLE ANDREW BROWN

WASHINGTON, July 6 – Oh, to be able to understand Greek! It must have been quite the heady press conference Yanis Varoufakis gave out on Sunday after the Referendum votes were counted. Whatever choice words Yanis chose to ream out the Euro Group finance ministers must make for a delicious read.

In last week’s Bloomberg News interview we saw the awesome verbal skill and analytical gymnastics Yanis is gifted with for both simplifying what the Brussels careerists would deem too complicated.  And his remarkable ability to stay on message even as journo Erik Schatzker battered Yanis with rapid fire questions hoping to corner him.  Continue
